The Dominican Republic Carnival

The Dominican Republic Carnival

The Dominican Republic carnival is the most important cultural celebration in the country. It is a dynamic and recreational performance of integration and identity. Dominicans get to explore their African, Tainos, and Spanish backgrounds through different costumes and performances.

During this time of the year, people from different ages and nationalities reunite to enjoy this extraordinary event every Sunday of February. On Sunday, February 16, there will be no carnival celebrations due to the municipal elections.

If you are in the country, do not miss out on this celebration of freedom and identity. Masks, exaggerated expressions, and creativity, are some of the elements that you will see in the carnival, in addition to the cheerful rhythm of Dominican artists who will be performing live merengue and bachata.
